Meet Dr. Torres

Being a dentist is both challenging and rewarding. Every patient is unique, with specific needs, expectations, and concerns. It is my responsibility to understand what is really needed and then work with the individual to determine how to proceed.

By looking at the whole of the person, really listening to and learning from them, I come to understand how to meet their desires in an ethical, comfortable manner. Rather than telling them what I’m going to do, I walk the person through their diagnosis and all treatment options. Inviting and answering their questions, explaining what I think is best and why, and ensuring they have the knowledge to make informed decisions, is core to how I practice. I love the problem-solving aspect of dentistry.

As for the rewarding aspect of my profession, I am happiest when my patient is happier and healthier. I am pleased to have the opportunity to help people and, in the process, get to know each as an individual and while building a trusting relationship.

Education and Experience

Prior to practicing dentistry, I completed the following:

  • Bachelor’s degrees in Biological Sciences and Sociology, University of California at Irvine
  • Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD), University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine
  • Residency, Lutheran Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona

I have practiced for 15 years and have loved each day in this profession. Blending art, science, and personal connections, while helping people improve their health and enjoyment of life, is deeply fulfilling.

Professional Memberships and Continuing Education

I am an active member of the American Dental Association and New Mexico Dental Association. These organizations offer numerous meetings, seminars, webinars, publications, and other opportunities for continuing education.

An avid lifelong learner, I enjoy challenging myself to stay at the leading edge of developments in dentistry. This keeps me engaged in the profession and excited to incorporate the latest proven options – technologies, techniques, materials – into patient care.

Beyond the Office

Originally from Santa Barbara, California, I love living in Albuquerque. My husband, Chris, is a research scientist for Sandia Laboratories. We have two young children, daughter Evelyn and son CJ, who constantly keep us on our feet!

I love time with my family and we enjoy going on adventures to learn what the southwest has to offer. When I have time for myself, I enjoy getting lost in a book.
